Thomas Vierboom is DEM Fire’s Electrical Service Team Leader, a role that involves a mix of supervision, administration and technical services.
“My responsibilities lie with supporting our fire protection technicians in the field, technical provision, troubleshooting problems, generating quotations and overseeing KPIs. I manage and motivate the electrical services department.”
Thomas’s professional background is equally diverse. “I was a professional chef for eight years before deciding to move across to electrical. I first encountered fire prevention during my electrical apprenticeship. Prior to DEM Fire, I also worked in the medical device industry.”
Thomas is still a dab hand in the kitchen, but he also enjoys the outdoor life, including cycling, boating and fishing. At DEM Fire, he spends time both in the field and in the office – so it fits perfectly.
While Thomas was drawn to the technical and problem-solving aspects of his role in fire prevention, he also believes client support is central – and very satisfying.
“I like finding resolutions to technical or customer issues. People rely on you to be there as an essential services provider, so it’s very important to meet that level of expectation.”
Thomas believes keeping busy is also a key motivator. “Ask the busiest person to do something and they will usually get it done. I do find that the more work I have, the better I perform.”
He’s found the DEM Fire team like-minded. “Everyone here is a team player, friendly but also very professional.”
