DF-Mick McGrath

Compliance and Accounts Manager

Mick looks after DEM’s key accounts and all sides of compliance, including the generation of annual fire and safety statements. His days often vary.

When he’s working on the compliance side of things, he heads out and surveys buildings, endorses fire safety measures and looks at fire safety schedules. If a building has changed, he makes sure it’s still compliant with regulations.

When it comes to accounts, Mick makes sure the testing and services teams are taking care of clients and keeping everything up to date.

Mick has been a firefighter for over 24 years and is also Deputy Captain at his local station. It was over 12 years ago that Mick first joined the DEM team. He was attracted to the close-knit family aspect of the business. “In a bigger business, you’re just a number. With DEM, we work together – all of us. It’s a tighter feel and I get better fulfilment from it.”

With five kids and two grandkids, Mick doesn’t have too much spare time. Though he does love his cricket.

What Fire Compliance Changes Mean for Annual Fire Statements

As we recently reported, legislation changes now require all staff that conduct Annual Fire Statements to gain accreditation as ‘competent fire safety practitioners’ (CFSPs). As of 1 July, only CFSPs can now legally conduct the work previously covered by Fire Safety Assessment (FSA).
