For DEM Fire, like many other businesses, there was no escaping the continuing impact of the pandemic this year.

As an essential services provider, however, we also continued to service our customers during lockdowns with our comprehensive solution design, system installation, asset management and fire compliance.

In 2021 we continued to build our expert in-house team of accredited fire practitioners, we streamlined processes to offer even more efficient fire protection and essential services, and we went above and beyond to provide first-class solutions for every customer. Here are just some of our activities and accomplishments this year.

Expanding our accredited expert team

As we’ve reported, legislative changes now mean fire safety experts must be accredited under the Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS).

In 2021 we upskilled our inspection and testing team and continued to build our team of Accredited Practitioners in Fire Safety and Fire Systems Design.

Anthony Carroll, Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety), successfully passed his first FPAS audit, and we added several new team members including Hasan Erdogan, Passive Fire Team Leader, Ben Cross, Electrical Service Team Leader, and Bree Giardina, Service Operations Manager.

With a fully accredited in-house team supplemented by trades specialists, we’re equipped to oversee end-to-end project management for every fire and essential services project.

Optimising our fire protection solutions

By growing our team of in-house Accredited Practitioners, DEM Fire is in an ideal position to continue to expand our services in line with the fire industry upgrades.

In January this year, we added lift assessments to our Annual Fire Safety Statement services, and in February we upgraded our Complying Development Certificate (CDC) services to offer a 48-hour CDC guarantee.

We also published several articles throughout the year on industry requirements across fire risk assessments, fire suppression, fire safety systems, fire alarm system upgrades and fire exit door regulations.

By keeping our customers informed, we help you understand your obligations and how we can help by providing safe, high-quality and fully compliant fire protection solutions.

Delivering expert customer solutions

DEM Fire has remained a leader in fire prevention, thanks to our team’s expertise across multiple sectors. This year we highlighted these skills in several diverse projects.

We provided large-scale fire safety maintenance for Stadium Australia, a mammoth project involving the asset maintenance of approximately 400 fire extinguishers, 200 hydrants, over 200 hose reels, over 1000 detectors, 20 sprinkler valve sets and 1400 fire doors plus fire panels, pumps and valve sets.

We also became a comprehensive fire protection provider for niche manufacturing business Trend Pac. And we showcased our collaborative team skills with an overnight emergency sprinkler system repair for Broadway Shopping Centre, which helped the centre open on time on its busiest trading day.

An award-winning family business

With our origins as a family business, DEM Fire is very proud to have built an expert team that values our customers just as much as we do.

In September we celebrated Family Business Day and in November we were delighted to welcome Tanya Sampson, our Administration and Account Manager, to our ‘10 Year Club’.

We were also thrilled to be recognised in September as a 2020 Family Business Australia (FBA) Hall of Fame inductee. As Tom Marshall, DEM Fire Managing Director, explains, the award reflects our ongoing commitment to holistic fire prevention.
