DEM Fire is delighted to report that we have recently been recognised as a 2020 FBA Hall of Fame inductee.
Family Business Australia (FBA) is an organisation that supports family businesses across the country, and their Hall of Fame initiative recognises family businesses that are making an impact.
DEM Fire is Australia’s leading independent provider of fire and essential services, providing complete solution design, system installation, asset management and fire compliance services. We’re also a proud family business with a like-minded team that values exceptional quality and service.
“Our initial response was complete surprise, especially given the difficult environment we’re all experiencing at the moment,” says Tom Marshall, DEM Fire Managing Director. “The selection committee stated that it was not just about this moment, but a mix of factors including how we approach business, our commitment to creating a professional business, our willingness to evolve, our commitment to our clients and terrific team of employees, and our financial management.
It’s about the long journey we’ve been on,” he adds, “and the one we’re planning for the future.”
The FBA Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of family-owned businesses that successfully contribute to our community, culture and economy.
Hall of Fame is a highly regarded peer commendation bestowed to one outstanding business in each state or territory each year by Family Business Australia and New Zealand. DEM Fire is the 2020 recipient for New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory.
According to the FPA, “This citation recognises the achievements of families that are managing respected and successful family businesses and pays homage to the significant role they play in our community, society and economy. Induction into the FBA Hall of Fame is an honour that is highly esteemed within the family business sector and inductees are justly proud to be recognised for their achievements.”
The team has been involved with FBA for several years, attending conferences and training programs. Janice is also an active member of an FPA Forum group that provides support, guidance and networking opportunities exclusively for women in family business.
“I think we’ve always had a long-term picture in mind, but our recent journey with the FPA has helped us get clarity of who we are as a family business and what our forward journey is. It’s nice that our customers and industry colleagues – and our employees – are starting to recognise what that’s all about,” explains Tom.
For Gary, Tom, Janice and the entire DEM Fire team, there is still a strong commitment to the values that DEM Fire began with, including exceptional fire prevention services for every client – and to be uncompromising in our commitment to fire safety.
“Our values are fundamental to who we are,” says Tom. And it’s why DEM Fire customers across multiple sectors can expect first-class fire protection design, system installation, asset management and fire compliance.
